TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Students with intellectual disabilities are getting the chance to experience what it is like to be a college student.
It is part of the University of Alabama's CrossingPoints' Summer Bridge Program. Ten students from across the southeast are calling Lakeside East on UA's campus, home, for the next couple of months. Cooper, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, struggled to accept whatever physical limitations she had. She was different, and that was OK. But it wasn’t until she enrolled in CrossingPoints at the University of Alabama that she was able to become a confident and happy young woman.
