Elizabeth Stewart, M.Ed, NBCT is currently pursuing her PhD in Special Education at The University of Alabama while working as a Graduate Research Assistant at CrossingPoints. Elizabeth is an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction as well as a contracted Assistive Technology Specialist for STAR in Huntsville, AL. Elizabeth graduated from Auburn University in 2003 and started a twelve-year career as a middle school special education teacher teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities at Homewood Middle School in Birmingham, AL. While in the classroom, Elizabeth developed an interest in assistive technology and has been working to develop her
skills and expertise in this area. She presents on a variety of topics specific to using assistive technology to create and maintain success for individuals with disabilities.​
