Dr. Jim SidersInternal Administrative Liaison-Dr. Siders’ professional career has evolved around educating and preparing youth and young adults with special needs for work and life, particularly persons with intellectual impairment, over the past 40 years. Initially, working in Ohio at Four-County Joint Vocational School in 1976, video self-evaluation techniques were used to improve the interactive skills and work related adjustments. His work includes appointments in higher education administration at The University of Southern Mississippi and The University of Alabama. Siders has served as an Assistant Dean (1985-89) and Department Chair (1989-1996) at Southern Miss. He became Department Head of Special Education and Multiple Abilities the University of Alabama, in 2005 through 2010 and again in 2014 to 2016. Dr. Siders co-Directed, CrossingPoints Program with Dr. Mutua from 2006-2014. He has served as the National President of the Teacher Education Division, Council for Exceptional Children in 2004 and was elected to the National Board of Directors, Council for Exceptional Children from 2006-2009. Jim recently retired but remains with CrossingPoints part time to assist in development of Tier 2 services for a post-secondary experience.
