APPLY TO BE A MENTOR
To foster the development of friendships between CrossingPoints students and their UA counterparts, the CrossingPoints program pairs UA undergraduate students with similar interest areas to serve as mentors to the CrossingPoints students. Mentors can work between 5-20 hours per week in different capacities and in different Tiers of the program. In the Tier 1 program, mentors spend at least 5 hours a-week with their mentee exploring experiences of shared interests such as going into the community or just grabbing lunch on campus. This mentoring program not only establishes friendships among the mentor-mentee pairs, but also supports the CrossingPoints student in acquiring skills for accessing integrated community and exercising age-appropriate social skills. Additionally, in the Tier 2 program, selected undergraduate students play a critical role as mentors in supporting CrossingPoints students in academic, employment, and daily living areas. Mentors within the Tier 2 program can spend between 10-20 hours per week in thier mentorships. Likewise, in Tier 3, mentors support students academically, socially, and with becoming more independent throughout their college experience. Tier 3 mentors can spend up to 20 hours per week working with the students on these goals.
